The fleshy vanilla pod from Madagascar is not sweet- in fact, it is enveloping and sensual, with notes of milk, honey, amber, wood, leather, animal and rum. 

Taking 18 months to go from blossom to a perfume-ready pod, vanilla is the most expensive spice in the world next to saffron, and its price has multiplied tenfold in the past 4 years. 

Sylvaine Delacourte chose to work with natural vanilla beans and not with synthetics. Madagascar’s vanilla was used for its depth and its distinguished, faceted aspect.
