CALL FOR ARTISTS

Indigo Perfumery invites local college art students to translate olfactory art into fine art.

With Exploring the Senses: Art from Perfume, Indigo Perfumery's second collegiate student art competition, artists are invited to submit work that celebrates the intangible beauty of fragrance.

 

Students will visit Indigo Perfumery to experience the perfumes in the shop. They are then asked to choose one fragrance that inspires them to create their artistic interpretation of the scent. Work will be accepted that best exemplifies the theme of Art from Perfume.

 

Eligibility

• Artists must be full-time, undergraduate students enrolled at an accredited college, university or art academy in northern Ohio.

• Artists of all disciplines are eligible to submit one original piece per person.

• Entries must remain in the gallery for the duration of the exhibition.

• Artists grant permission for Indigo Perfumery to use their images in promotional materials, and agree to have their artist information included in show materials.

Prizes

• Best in Show Award:  $750

• Merit Award:  $500

• Honorable Mention Award: $300

The Indigo Perfumery Art Committee makes final award selections.

 

The Process:

• Students will visit Indigo Perfumery between March 2 and March 11, 2023 to choose a fragrance that inspires them. All artwork must be inspired by a fragrance in Indigo Perfumery’s carefully curated collection only.

• Digital applications accepted only at indigoperfumery.com. Application deadline is March 21, 2023. The entry fee is $10.00, which includes up to two perfume samples per person.

 

Artists may drop off their work at Indigo Perfumery, 12011 Detroit Avenue, Lakewood, OH  44107 between Friday, April 21st and Wednesday, April 26th, 2023 from 11AM-5PM.

Include:

• Artists name and contact information.

• An artist’s statement or biographical information of 150 words or less, written in English, sharing the inspiration and story behind the artwork.

• Submitted works may be no large 3 feet square and 5 inches deep.

• Title for each piece submitted.  Titles should be labeled on the back or bottom of the piece.

• Pricing information: Indigo Perfumery takes a 30% commission on all works sold.  Please take this into consideration when pricing works.

• Work must be ready to hang and/or display. Works not ready for display will not be considered.

• Dropping off of your creation does not guarantee a spot in the show.  The Art Committee will take into consideration size, available space, and individual merit when making the final selections.

 

• Opening Reception: Thursday, May 11, 2023, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

• Exhibit will run from May 12 to May 26, 2023, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• Pick up work: all work must be collected between Tuesday, May 30 to Saturday, June 3, 2023, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
