Madama Butterfly II by Senyoko at Indigo Perfumery
“I wish I was a flower, blooming on the rocks; I wish I was a droplet, dampening your cheeks.”
Madama Butterfly II, inspired by the opera, Madama Butterfly by Puccini, is a story of rebirth. A story which questions, challenges, and redefines the traditional notions of femininity and independence.
Madama Butterfly II tells the tumultuous story of transition: Cio-Cio San’s journey from a naïve maiden who is dependent on Lieutenant Pinkerton’s love, to a strong, independent lady. II means Cio-Cio San’s rebirth.
The new story begins with a fragile 15-year-old Cio-Cio San as she sets out to find confidence and inner peace.

An otherworldly beauty. The most beautiful fragrance I’ve smelled this year...and possibly ever? Needless to say I bought a full bottle. I first received as a free sample with a fragrance purchase. With one whiff, this fragrance moved me. It evoked a sense of comfort, luminosity, sensuality, and mystery all at once. I have never smelled anything like it, perhaps due to certain notes I’ve never come across in a perfume before such as Sakura blossom and tagettes (marigold?). It is certainly in line with my fragrance preferences, which are feminine, elegant, refined musks and soft florals, such as Narciso EDP, Serge Lutens Un Lys, Jour d’Hermes Absolu, and Montale White Musk. However it smells wholly unique, avant-garde even. Yet it is still very wearable and accessible—not so strange that it can only be appreciated for its aesthetic characteristics by the Fragrance Community Intelligentsia. Indeed it is a work of art, and I applaud the passion and effort of Senyoko perfumer(s) to create such a beauty. Well done!
