Jasmin de Pays by Perris Monte Carlo at Indigo Perfumery

Gian Luca Perris describes the inspiration behind Jasmin de Pays:

"Grasse is the cradle of perfumery and produces some of the highest quality raw materials in the world. This beautiful region welcomes us all in its precious flowers and eternal aromas. In 2018, UNESCO accredited the Art of Perfumery in the Grasse World Heritage status in light of its exceptional knowledge associated with the cultivation of ingredients and for the art of perfume composition.

Our desire was to create a fragrance that represents the unique history and craftsmanship of Grasse so that everyone can enjoy the quality and true greatness of the art of French perfumery." To achieve this, Gian Luca Perris selected a protagonist of the appropriate greatness:

"At Grasse, there were several notable candidates to be the creative leaders in this project! But for me, Jean-Claude Ellena is the most iconic perfumer of our time and is above all others. Clearly, there is no doubt that he was born artistically in Grasse."

Many of you know Jean-Claude Ellena from the masterpieces he has created. However, not everyone knows his full story: as a child he harvested jasmine and roses with his grandmother, then he started working in the factories that produced essential and absolute oils. In addition, he became a master of the art of perfume composition. Jean-Claude Ellena has experienced first-hand all the elements that made Grasse a world heritage site:

"Jean Claude calls himself an" écrivain des odeurs ", I love to call him Perfume Poet, and it was a real privilege to work with him on this project."

"My devotion to Jasmine lies with my childhood in Grasse. As a child, I used to harvest jasmine at dawn, picking the white porcelain flowers one by one, their smell was green, transparent and intoxicating. By noon, the last of the last white petals released a warm smell of orange blossom. By night, the forgotten flowers, now yellowed, emanated a happy, deep animalic fragrance. If its perfume was given rhythm by the time of day, then its nature never changed. Admiring this work of nature was my inspiration to imagine the perfume in a different way, to play with its elements and change its effects to make it unique and forever Jasmine." Jean Claude Ellena
